THIS WEEK LIFE GROUP QUESTIONS

Sermon Title: “I See You”
Week of Sunday May 15, 2022
Sermon By: Pastor Tony Cruz

Life Group Questions:
  1. Review the story of Joshua Bell, world renowned violinist who played in the NYC subway before playing at his concert. How does this experiment remind you of the reactions / perceptions of others when Jesus walked the earth? What did you take away from this story?
  2. When the extraordinary is placed among the ordinary, it often goes unnoticed, unless someone recognizes “the genre”. How can we better recognize the extraordinary in the people around us when we look through the lenses of God’s eyes? (Note: the world often will not recognize the talents or abilities of people if they don’t blend in with their view).
  3. In Sunday’s message, we heard that we should “stay where we are celebrated, not just tolerated.” When have you ever felt “tolerated”? When have you felt celebrated? What are the differences between the environments of those circumstances?
  4. Read John 4: 1-26. This Samaritan woman had an encounter with Jesus that changed her life forever. Afterwards, she immediately ran into town and shared her testimony, which spread like wildfire. Share what it’s like for you to tell others about your testimony. How can you relate to this woman, OR how does she inspire you?
  5. The Samaritan woman went to the well at the hottest part of the day. We can assume that she may not have wanted other people to see her there. Yet, Jesus met her there. He SAW her! Describe a time when you may have wanted to be unseen, yet you know God saw you and met with you. In your experience, do you have deeper encounters with God on your own (privately), or with others?
  6. There is power in a personal encounter with Jesus. Sometimes we can become trapped in the idea of living off of other people’s encounters with Him, without having our own encounter. What kind of personal encounters with Jesus have you experienced? If you have not experienced this yet, what areas of life are you looking for Him to encounter?
  7. The power of her testimony, and the power of her encounter, led to the power of her confession of who Jesus is. All of these together led to many others confessing that Jesus is Messiah as well. What can happen if we have an encounter and a testimony, but then keep it to ourselves? What responsibility do we have to share and confess Jesus as Lord in our lives?
  8. Read Romans 10:9. This verse speaks to the power in confession. Declaring it with your mouth and believing it are two different things. Discuss the difference.
  9. The rubble of life can often bury us to the point that we think no one can see us or find us. Take what you have learned from this story to reveal how God sees us no matter where we are or what we are going through. Share where you are at with this, and lead one another in prayer.

Our desire is to create a culture that people from all walks of life can DISCOVER God’s word together in a safe, small group setting and DEVELOP as believers following Jesus.

What is a Life Group?  Life Groups (LG's) are a gathering of 6 to 12 individuals committed to meeting on a weekly basis. It consists of similar background, interests, life situations, etc.  We desire to do LIFE with people in these small group settings.

Why do Life Groups?  To meet the immediate spiritual, emotional, and physical needs of those isolated by crisis through prayer and personal connection within the church body.

Where do Life Groups meet? Life Groups mostly meet in homes of Freedom members who live in the surrounding region. Life Group leaders sincerely care for each of the people they lead. Each leader has a passion to help you become everything Jesus created you to be, a person connected to your everyday life, and a person who will encourage you to share your faith in Christ.

When do Life Groups meet?  Groups meet at various times of the week.  Most Life Group meetings are between 60-90 minutes each week. They are semester based groups lasting between 2-3 months each semester with a short time off in between semesters.

How do I join a Life Group? Life Groups are not just for attendees of Freedom but anyone is able to attend.  Whoever wants to get connected to a Life Group can sign up at the Connection Table at any one of our Sunday worship experiences or email us at our contact page.
