Life Group Questions:
- 1. This week, we are concluding a four part series of living a life of focus. We have gone through the story of Peter: keeping our focus even when we fell / Joseph and David: staying focused when temptations come our way / Mary and Martha: Focusing our time on what’s most important. To wrap up, we are learning how to focus on what is NOW and GOOD, rather than what is THEN and BAD. *Which part of this series has been resonating most with you in this season? Share a highlight of what God has spoken to you through this series.
2. Read 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18. We are not expected to be thankful for everything that happens, but God does expect us to be thankful in everything that happens. What is the difference? Provide a few examples.
3. Read Ezra 3: 6-13. This passage shows us that our FOCUS will always affect our REACTION. Those who remembered Solomon’s temple wept because they were looking at the past. Those who did not were shouting for joy that there would be a temple! Discuss the detriment of only looking backwards. What are we likely to miss?
4. This passage also describes a generational divide. The older ones wept for what they no longer had and for the differences they saw going forward. The younger ones did not know any differently. Their reactions were opposite. We often see generational divides within the church to this day. What can we do to bridge that gap? (Ex: the more seasoned generation carries experience, wisdom, and more knowledge / the younger generation carries new energy, vision, and excitement. How do we connect them to learn from one another?
5. Read Phillippians 4: 11-13. Review what this verse is truly speaking into. Can we, or should we, “do” all things? Is it more about doing, or being?
6. Turn to Philippians 4:6. Paul had many hardships after deciding to give his life to Christ. But he learned the power of prayer. Give a recent example of the power of prayer in your life, or someone you may know.
7. Read Galatians 2:20. Paul learned perspective in his trials. Discuss the “God at the center” diagram shown in Sunday’s message. What is the difference between placing God in the center, and allowing Him to just be a “slice” on the wheel? How can we effectively place God in the center of all areas of life? (relationships, career, hobbies, finances, etc)
8. Read 2 Corinthians 6:10. The kingdom of God is “upside down”. We can have nothing and yet have everything. Share a testimony of a time when you had this kind of supernatural, God given joy amidst poor circumstances? How did God use this time in your life for His glory?
Our desire is to create a culture that people from all walks of life can DISCOVER God’s word together in a safe, small group setting and DEVELOP as believers following Jesus.
What is a Life Group? Life Groups (LG's) are a gathering of 6 to 12 individuals committed to meeting on a weekly basis. It consists of similar background, interests, life situations, etc. We desire to do LIFE with people in these small group settings.
Why do Life Groups? To meet the immediate spiritual, emotional, and physical needs of those isolated by crisis through prayer and personal connection within the church body.
Where do Life Groups meet? Life Groups mostly meet in homes of Freedom members who live in the surrounding region. Life Group leaders sincerely care for each of the people they lead. Each leader has a passion to help you become everything Jesus created you to be, a person connected to your everyday life, and a person who will encourage you to share your faith in Christ.
When do Life Groups meet? Groups meet at various times of the week. Most Life Group meetings are between 60-90 minutes each week. They are semester based groups lasting between 2-3 months each semester with a short time off in between semesters.
How do I join a Life Group? Life Groups are not just for attendees of Freedom but anyone is able to attend. Whoever wants to get connected to a Life Group can sign up at the Connection Table at any one of our Sunday worship experiences or email us at our contact page.
